The Township of Maple Shade will celebrate Arbor Day and honor trees on Friday, April 26 by planting two dogwood trees at Collins Park and a red maple at the Woodlawn Sports Complex. Yocum School will also be planting a tree as they have for the last several years. However you choose to celebrate Arbor Day, at a minimum, get outside to enjoy and appreciate the trees in our area and the many benefits they provide; aesthetically, providing shade, reducing erosion, providing a sense of well-being, cooling the environment, and so many more.
Speaking of trees, did you know Maple Shade is a member of the New Jersey Urban and Community Forestry Program and has a Community Forestry Management Plan (CFMP)? You can see this document on our web page at https://www.sustainablemapleshade.org/trees. The CFMP is due to be revised by 2025 and will include community involvement. More details on this will be provided at a later date.
